I recently went on a road trip to South Carolina. We decide to dive out of our way to visit Charleston, and I am so glad we did! The town is full of history, but what intrigued me most was the hidden gardens. It seemed as through the central town we were walking though was filled with secret gardens. To the untrained eye (well I don't have any training, I'm just nosy) you could pass right by several of them on the same block.
The first path I found led to an Iron gate labeled: The Gateway Walk of The Garden Club of Charleston. Another one of my favorite finds was hidden inside a row of shrubbery lining the street. When I looked closer there was small peep holes where the cast iron fence showed through. I had no idea places like this existed, It was like a childhood fantasy coming true. It was all so incredibly Gorgeous!
The secretiveness of these made it all the more exciting. The attention to detail was incredible. The whole town is filled with intricate cast Iron decorating the towns gates, windows, balcony's, doorways, and fences. All of this could have been missed if I would have kept walking down the street that day. Good thing I was nosy.
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I -
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
